When is it due for release?

In July; we're planning for an international release. We're working with a couple of distributors for a European as well as an International release. So depending on the outcome we'd arrive at a date for the release.

We are actually waiting for it!

Me too.

Your father is a politician. How has he influenced you?

As a person he has influenced me a lot. The intense attention he shows to his work, and his actions; a sincerity, his belief in a spiritual presence for everything that you do - all this has quite unknowingly influenced me and my work. As for political ideology, I wouldn't know; it isn't as easy to say a yes or a no.

Those in the BJP have an inclination towards Matha Amrithanandamayi; is there a truth in the rumor?

I don't know. I cannot make any easy statement like that. I do not think it would be right.

Besides films and theatre; could you tell us something about your teleserials?

Among the tele serials I've done - Maranam Durbalam, my first work is very dear to me. Then there was Manal Nagaram, about Malayalis based in Dubai. Shamanatalam, based on K Radhakrishnan's novel. All three mean a lot to me; but honestly serials are not my best experiences. You can't give your attention to something that stretches so long. You cannot attend to details; and if you don't attend to details, then there is no direction! The director is someone who is looking at the details. The production circumstance is such that one can't give such attention. So it was not a satisfactory experience.

Surely films are always more satisfying.....

Certainly; short films even. Maranam Durbalam was shot in 14 episodes which I could totally involve in and work out every detail.

That was a superb serial; one of the best I've seen.

Thank you very much.
