Once were Warriors
A gem from Newzealand, which I chanced upon in a film festival.
The movie was created to give a very real depiction of the lives some people are forced to live in. Despair, cultural displacement, domestic violence and alcoholism are its darker themes, but the triumph of human dignity is its redemption.
The performances are stunning. This is a very emotionally intense movie that not only holds your attention but draws you in it. Its not a movie one should watch as entertainment. Its not meant to 'entertain' you.
