Il Postino

A pleasant and beautiful film by Michael Radford about a poor Italian postman who is touched by the famous poet Pablo Neruda. There is a great mix of fantasy and reality as the poor man lives a dream as the famous poet mentors him. Wordplay and scenery blend beautifully and the acting is great. The direction, script and Production design are finely wrought.

It has a quiet charm, we need simple, tender film to remind us that life has it delights. Music by Luis Bacalay, is a delight and has been one of my prized possession as a CD.
